Basseterre, St. Kitts – Members of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga continue to live up to their motto of “Service Above Self”. On the morning of Saturday December 6, 2014, members of the Club assembled at the premises on the St. Christopher Outreach Centre to lend a helping hand. President of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga Dr Marcus L Natta stated that the Club received a request from the Outreach Centre for assistance with painting of their wooden picnic tables.
“Our Club received this painting assistance request a few days before and we quickly mobilized our members to come out,” said President Natta. “As Rotarians, we recognize and embrace the awesome responsibility we have to give; be it of our time, our financial resources or in this case some arm strength and sweat.”
The Rotarians sanded and painted several large picnic tables during their time at the Outreach Centre.  The tables are an essential part of the activities of the Outreach Centre as they are used in the provision of meals, at least 3 days per week, for the underprivileged. The Outreach Centre also facilitates rehabilitation programmes and provides basic medical counselling, shower facilities and fresh clothing.
The Rotary Club of Liamuiga will remain busy this upcoming weekend during its Annual Christmas Hamper Distribution Initiative. The Club members will be canvassing the entire island delivering large hampers filled with food, toiletries and other necessities to over 50 of the most vulnerable in our society. The Club will end the year with its major fundraising event its Annual New Year’s Charity Ball at the Carambola Beach Club.
